Westobou seeks to work with a variety of creatives to introduce our community to new perspectives and ideas.
Every year, Westobou will open up applications for a curator to work with emerging and experimental artists to concept an exhibition at Westobou Gallery. The selected curator will be paid for their time, research and work related to the exhibition including a 500-word essay about the artwork. Partnering with a curator allows our community to be introduced to contemporary artwork through a different lens.
Our 2025 Guest Curator
Craig Drennen
Craig Drennen is a painter based in Atlanta, GA and a 2018 Guggenheim Fellow. He is represented by Brigitte Mulholland Gallery in Paris. He has had recent solo exhibitions at The Suburban in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Freight+Volume Gallery in New York City, and the Atlanta Contemporary in Atlanta, Georgia. His work has been included in group exhibitions at Anton Kern Gallery in New York City and the Kunstverein Langenhagen in Langenhagen, Germany. He has been an artist in residence at Yaddo, MacDowell, and Skowhegan. His work has been reviewed in Art in America, Artforum, and The New York Times. Drennen served as dean at the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture in Skowhegan, teaches at Georgia State University, and manages THE END Project Space. Since 2008 he has organized his studio practice around Shakespeare’s Timon of Athens.

Jennifer Chrzanowski
Jennifer Chrzanowski is an independent curator residing in Crofton, Maryland. She received her BFA in Film, Photography and Electronic Media from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her Masters Degree in Photography from Columbia College Chicago. She has curated multiple exhibitions that include the work of Joe Goode, Chris Verene, Bill Owens, Jo Ann Callis and Eileen Cowen. She currently works at the Academy Art Museum in Easton Maryland as the Deputy Director where she organizes a multitude of special events, including a 3-day juried Craft Show which includes over 60 artists from across the United States and a block-party style Juneteenth celebration which includes regional musical acts, food and crafts.

Our 2022 Guest Curator
Allison Westerfield
Allison Westerfield is a doctoral candidate studying modern and contemporary art under the advice of Dr. Rachel Silveri at the University of Florida. She received her BA in Arts Administration from the University of West Florida. She went on to attend Savannah College of Art and Design earning her MA in Art History. Her current research intends to focus on the medical invention and visual construction of hysteria by Jean-Martin Charcot and its feminist afterlives, as women artists worked to reclaim feminine madness from its patriarchal medicalization. Outside of academia, she works as an independent curator. Recent exhibitions include mini golf of sensual sports photographs by McKinna Anderson at Florida Mining Gallery and Waiting Room at Laundromat Art Space in Miami.

Our 2021 Guest Curator
Hasani Sahlehe
Hasani Sahlehe is a multidisciplinary artist and educator. His practice consists of abstract paintings, installations, and performances that explore the natural and the supernatural. Significant exhibitions of his work have taken place at SCAD Museum of Art, the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, and NADA Miami. His work has been published in Art Papers, New American Paintings (with Noteworthy Artist distinction), Artmaze, and Burnaway. Awards include the SCAD Alumni Atelier, MINT Leap year residency, and the Hambidge Residency for the Arts and Sciences. Michael Rooks, curator, High Museum of Art is among the collectors of his work. Sahlehe currently serves as the teaching artist at the Morris Museum of Art. He received his Painting BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2015. Sahlehe is originally from St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.
